I hate when the hotel has events that go until 12. Then all the stupid financial paperwork stuff takes me until six to finish because the computer is super slow, and by the time I have it ready to take to the accountant it's already seven, and then I don't clock out until eight. I like having everything ready by five so that I can get it the accountant's office by seven so I can leave on time.
Gah. I love my job.

I love my  work but I hate the organization I work for. there a government organization providing advocacy for people with disabilities and I feel I am very limited in my ability to help people.  it is an extremely beauracratic and frustrating place to work.   I didn't go to uni for four years to become a  beauracrat, I studied social work. That said I am going to be starting a research project soon which should be very exciting

I'm starting to get really really tired of spending most of my time at work fixing all the fuckups made by other people, most of whom are paid more than me.

Looks like I've got more hours for next week. Fuck yes.
I'm so glad the assistant manager does the rota and not the store manager, because she hates me for reasons unknown.

I know the feeling.  I also studied social work and on one of my university work placements I worked in a mental health ward that was so beaurecratic that I could hardly do anything without stepping on the toes of the psychs etc.

What country are you in?  I'm in Australia.  When did you graduate?  I graduated in Dec 2008 and have been looking for a social work job ever since.  I have basically given up on ever getting into the industry and I am currently deciding what to retrain in - hopefully something that actually has entry-level jobs.

Good luck with your research project!

So I work tonight and it's probably going to be busyashell.
I'm a little nervous.
I shouldn't be, because I survived busyashell a couple weeks ago & got tipped hella good.

Co-Op didn't hire me. :(

BUT I did see a bunch of potential workplaces in the paper, and it's been suggested I apply where Logan works.

I think I'll get a job this summer, or try to get one in mid May after all my orchestra stuff is done for the year. I think i'm going to drop all of my AP classes next year so I can work during the school year and not have to study for shit, and still have time to practice like there is a gun to my head. Just an idea, haha.
^I guess this is me bitching about my unemployment..

But, my mom does merchandising, basically she sets up displays of things (socks, underwear, cd's) depending on the company, and she's done a few Keurig coffee demos. With those, we get a TON of free coffee, and the machine and keep whatever is left over. Luckily, she hates doing those, so m sister and I alternate doing it, and get paid just to show people how it works and blab about it and give them free coffee. Fun. I think we're doing more in May, which is good because I need money.

A pair of my friends bought a farm upstate in January, and they want to run a 10 person csa and perhaps also do farmers markets with their veggie crops. They want a farmer to live up there full time as they're still going back and forth and keeping their jobs in the city. I'm totally interested in this. I went up there yesterday to get the grand tour and talk about what they're looking for. I'm going to think on it and talk it over with my people (because maybe there's something there that I'm not seeing). The answer feels like yes. It's quite the opportunity. The pay is tiny, but also included are an apartment and vegetables, and living space and food are my two top expenses as is.

The only thing is that getting out of the city is messy logistics. I'll need to find a subletter for my half of this apartment, and then there's the actual moving part...

Today, I went up to the till to write something out and while I was there, I served a customer. When I got back on the floor, the boss and the girl I asked to cover the door for me were standing at the door, having a pretty intense conversation with the guy I'd just served. He left, and the manager shouted stuff after him and then reported him to the shopping centre's security. So they found him and brought him back to the shop, where he refused to be searched (he'd set the alarm off, hence the intense conversation). There were loads of security guards there, and then an off-duty policeman got involved. There was quite a lot of shouting and then the police were called and he still wouldn't co-operate. So the police searched the rucksack he had with him and found nothing. It was quite the event.

I have work in less than an hour and I still need to shower....I hate my job.

Although the one thing I do like is that occasionally we get to see overweight old security guards trying to catch young fast thieves. It is often amusing.

I didn't even, they checked his bag and there were no tags on anything haha. Totally wasn't my fault this time!
