Today, I went up to the till to write something out and while I was there, I served a customer. When I got back on the floor, the boss and the girl I asked to cover the door for me were standing at the door, having a pretty intense conversation with the guy I'd just served. He left, and the manager shouted stuff after him and then reported him to the shopping centre's security. So they found him and brought him back to the shop, where he refused to be searched (he'd set the alarm off, hence the intense conversation). There were loads of security guards there, and then an off-duty policeman got involved. There was quite a lot of shouting and then the police were called and he still wouldn't co-operate. So the police searched the rucksack he had with him and found nothing. It was quite the event.
ummm.....

Someone didn't forget to remove the inventory-control
tags on his stuff she rang up, did she?

I didn't even, they checked his bag and there were no tags on anything haha. Totally wasn't my fault this time!
Hmph.....

Cellphones sometimes set the things off, especially if you receive a call just
as you're walking past the sensors.

Putting one of the sensors in your sister's handbag sets them off too. Not that I would ever do such a thing.....

So I went to our new baseball team's home-opener last night, and they had fireworks, and the parking lot
was littered with the paper casings of the shells that had burst overhead....  You know, the casings totally
saturated with black-powder residue....

...and my sister was flying out this evening from the airport...  You know, the one with the explosive-sniffing
sensors at every gate....

I didn't, but I really thought about it....  >:D

I decided not to go back to work at the hotel, and instead I get paid $150 a day to babysit two kids for five hours. I get more in a month than I got from the hotel, and it's a lot more fun. Yay!

I recently lost The Coolest Job ever (caps totally necessary) and I'm basically back at square one. I actually hate being employed and that was the only job I've ever liked. I don't know if I can go back to working at pizza places! Someday I'd love to find a way to make a living without being EMPLOYED exactly. Or I could become a librarian.

What was the job? sorry you lost it though :(

My boss keeps asking me if I want to book holidays and I keep having to give her ambiguous answers like "I haven't booked any yet" which is true, but I am planning on being in France for the entire summer. I think the assistant manager has an idea, but I don't think she'll say anything to the boss boss.

i worked in a combination head shop/clothes store and part time as a counter girl at the connected tattoo/piercing shop.
it was amazing. i got to have green hair, free piercing, i could listen to whatever music i wanted and i acutally KNEW things about the products. most other jobs i've had, i felt a bit like it was halloween all the time, because i had to completely adjust my appearance and personality. alas, awesome jobs cannot last forever!

Maybe you could find a Jedi Master tattooist willing to take on a padawan inker?

i enjoy the job i have right now, it's not my dream job but i can definitely see me staying here until i do get my dream job/s

my hubby is now planning on possibly going to art school so he can become a tattooist :D which is totally exciting

i have to admit i would love to be a tattooist too and i used to be really good at art back in the day but then i had an evil teacher who told me everything i did was shit just because she didnt agree with how i did stuff so i stopped doing it cause she pissed me off and now i'm pretty good still but not as good as i would have been if i had kept going which makes me sad so unless i can get myself back into it when he becomes a tattooist i'm gonna be his piercer cause i'm good with that

Oh why haven't i explored this thread before!

I'm so tired of the all the crap about my work. My phone never stops, and i'm always getting emails.

I haven't taken my annual leave for the last 2 years. So this year, i decided to take 20 days off, i'll turn off my phone and read lots of books.

i'm a waiter/kp/cover chef/general dogsbody at a café in a posh department store in my town.
i've been there for about a year and a half and i'd never had a job before this. it's pretty rad.
i also occasionally get sent to another café to manage it when the person who normally runs it is on holiday, which is annoying because it's in edinburgh but it'll look pretty rad on my cv i guess.
i've done a few nvqs whatever they are, i'm currently doing one that's actually a hnc and it's all free and done through work and based on observations so i'm basically getting qualifications for being fucking awesome at my job.

howevs, the pay is crap and i regularly struggle to eat for large portions of the month.
also, there used to be this really tight-knit, close bond between all of us who work there but that's been disappearing recently because people are moving on and we're expanding so we're hiring new people and idk i'm thinking it might be time to look towards jumping ship.

I work in a club and I like it for the most part, but I had a lot of back trouble a few weeks ago so I asked if I could be put on something that didn't require heavy lifting. They said no :(
