I went into work today cos the rota that was posted online clearly stated that I was to work tonight, tomorrow night and Saturday night. On going into work, I discover that on the rota posted in the staff room, I am only down for Saturday night. Which is such utter bullshit. I spoke to my boss and he was all "You read it wrong". I'm not a fucking idiot, but I thought maybe he's right so I went and checked again and no. I was right.

So anyway, this week I have one shift which is definitely not enough to pay rent and bills and other such expenses. I am good at my job, I have no idea why they're giving me one fucking shift a week. Not long ago, they said they were cutting back on hours but they are STILL hiring, which makes no fucking sense whatsoever. I am angry, this is such complete bullshit.

I just started back up at the shop, and while I'm sure proud of a couple I roped in and also my typing skillz- I am also super brain dead from racist & homophobic comments from my co-worker. I just smile and nod...only to shudder once I arrive home.

The money isn't very good- but I'm mostly doing this for a woman who I think is pretty rad. She gives me money for making her happy and life easier for her, or at least somewhat, so whatevs.

Have you tried telling the co-worker not to do it, or do they do it anyway? Either way, I recommend glaring at them when they say bad stuff, just remember to turn your glare face off when addressing the customers

i went in earlier to get my asthma pump out of the locker room and my boss cornered me and asked me to work the following shifts this week instead of what i was on the rota for originally

tomorrow: 8-5:30
wednesday: 8-5:30
thursday: 8:30-7:30
friday: off
saturday: 9-5:30

normally i wouldn't mind but a) fuck off with that eleven hour shift and b) I AM A FUCKING WHEEZING, SPLUTTERING, PHLEGMY MESS OF DEATH AND I AM VERY LIKELY TO DIE AT WORK BECAUSE I CAN'T FUCKING BREATHE

So they finally hired a manager for my store which means
a) I can finally leave that hold of a "town"
b) Well, a is all that matters.
But they hired externally, and the 5 day course was obviously not enough, so I'm having to train her up even more.
I don't get paid enough for this shit.

Because she still doesn't know how to do half of the things they teach on the course.
It's not just her fault, she was telling me they only skimmed parts of the course because there was 8 in their group.
But it's still ridiculous that with 2 trainers in the city, countless stores, 8 people, and 5 days, they didn't think to split the group to make it more practical.

I wish I could, but this is a small town and a job that's hard to navigate politically anyway because everyone is interconnected.

It also turns out he works in the court system, so I'll be seeing him again in my volunteer duties, and I want him to at least not hate me.

I'm bumping another thread.

It appears that people at work have singled me out for ridicule or something. They make fun of my name in a way that seems like they're just having a bit of a laugh. I don't know if I'm just being paranoid but they're really going out of their way to do it. Today, one of them posted a picture on my wall of one of the words they usually call me. Just to piss me off. They do it constantly and I try not to care but it's really grating. Perhaps I'm being petty but it's really just the lack of respect that annoys me. Also, I'm not sure but not long ago they invited me out and got really weird when I said yes. They told me they'd meet me at a club, so I got all dressed up and that, and then they were still weird about it. I was almost certain they weren't going to show up and just laugh at the fact that I was waiting for them on my own. Part of this might be paranoia from past events, but it just stinks of high school.

EDIT: I kind of want to report the girl who posted the picture cos she is quite clearly the instigator but the problem is, she's a supervisor. So if she were to find out, it would be quite easy for her to make my life hell.

I say report her, Sheeny. If you make it clear to the people above her that you're worried about her taking it out on you and that you need support, they should be able to make it clear to her that this behaviour is unacceptable. Also, I'm a fan of the cocktail stick/eyeball combo
