whats the difference between minor and major?

the minor arcana are in suits, like a deck of playing cards.  there are wands (sometimes called staves), cups, pentacles, and swords instead of clubs, diamonds, hearts and spades.  the difference between the minor arcana cards and playing cards is that pages have become jacks, and the knights are missing.  this difference was effected around (one of) the time(s) the tarot was banned, much like 'ninepins' became 'tenpins' and finally 'bowling' when it was outlawed.

the major arcana, which distinguishes a tarot deck from a playing deck, are primarily symbolic and contain such figures as the magician, the hanged man, the fool, etc.

Funnily enough, some minor arcana decks are very much like standard playing cards. They are blank and feature only the symbols of the suits in geometrical patterns. I’m glad that isn't happening with the AFP deck.

righty; those are called 'pip' cards.  easier to do when you dont have all these awesome artists to assign cards to.....you just print off the pips without designs.  although pip cards can be pretty, too.

If anyone has any questions about the deck you can e-mail me (brent@amandapalmer.net) and I should get back to you soon. Or if you'd rather e-mail Beth then feel free too. I'm just trying to divide out the workload. :)

is it a matter of just waiting for more info on the matter? because i'm not really sure how we can make designs if we aren't told which designs have already been taken, otherwise we may all end up doing the same card. right?

We'll be sending out e-mails to each artist who has been chosen and that will let them know what card they're designing. Some of you might already know which cards you'll be working on. But if you do not and you are wondering, just wait a little longer and we should be letting you know soon. :)

Hey what ever happened to this? Am I the only one who wonders this? We all put so much work into our cards, we want to see them become real!
