I bet downtown Detroit is way scarier.

And that's how I like it.

I can walk 1 foot and be in a corn field. 10 feet and be in a corn field. i can drive 100 miles and still be in a corn field. and it sucks. BUT. i can also spit and scratch my butt and pick my nose without any problems. THAT is actually fine by me....

Downtown is almost Disney-like these days imo; hell - even the Cass Corridor isn't the Cass Corridor anymore, except for those first few blocks north of I-75. The west side, though...man, what happened? It's not like 6 Mile & Livernois (where U-D Mercy is) was ever Easy Street (at least not in my lifetime), but these days...shit, I'd almost rather be in Baghdad after dark than there. If anything, it gets worse heading west from there. :o
Fortunately, I don't have to be down that way these days.

hmm, i'm guessing you live in jersey, somewhere around the redbank area? seeing as kevin smith's shop is there, unless he commutes a lot...which i don't really see why he would do that...anyway, i lived/will be living during the summertime about a forty five minutes away in roxbury.

and before you all start saying "baltimore is scaaaary" let me say this: it's fucking awesome.

my school is pretty damn awesome. it's art school. i make art. and turn it in for a grade. i cannot think of a better way of life.
i fucking love my roomate to death.
the inner harbor is pretty, but a bit too touristy for my tastes.
hampden, fells point!!!! best areas of this town, loads of indie shops
art is EVERYEWHERE, thanks to the college
and, it's a city, man. so much cooler than the suburbs. now i don't have to say, "oh, i live a half hour from the city." because i am in a city. and nothing could be better. (well, if the dolls came down here a little more often, i guess that could be better. but i have friends in boston, so i'll probably visit all you northerners when i scrounge up the bucks for the train)

do you go to MICA?

that's cool. MICA gave me a shit ton of aid, which made me an incredibly happy panda.
i almost applied to RISD, but in the end didn't, because of the send in your work policy. i just wasn't ready to give up the best things i've ever drawn forever by folding them to a place that the chances of me getting accepted to weren't too high anyway :-\

but the good news is, now we can be art school buddies :D haha.

Detroit is probably the one area in the United States where urban explorers wouldn't look down on other UEers for being armed while exploring. So much to look at, but not without the risk of getting yourself killed, or at least beaten.

I live in Wisconsin.
We not only have that ginormous cow in our town,
but where I live is only an hour away from Milwaukee,
which is also known as Brew City. I'm not sure of how
many actual breweries are there, but there's of course,
Miller, Old Milwaukee (nasty shit), Leinenkugel's, Sprecher,
Pabst, Schlitz and many more smaller breweries.
One of the really great things about the drinking laws in
Wisconsin is that you can drink if your parent provides
you with the alcohol, until you're 21 and can drink on your own.
I love that law, since I like to drink, and my mom's actually cool to drink with.
Also, where I live is 45 minutes from Madison and 2 hours away from Chicago.
It's pretty rad.

I can't believe it...

I'm now actually vaguely interested in Wisconsin.
