For the passed week the streets have been packed with tourists. Oh my god. It's such a bitch to move around the streets when urrbody is takin' they lovely ass time to read every goddamn sign on every goddamn window. BUT having newcomers always beats the average Torontonian.

There's this really awesome art college, OCAD, and its structure is surreal. I envy those assholes.

We've got the lovely Kensington Market. Such a humble place. You will find many hippies and rastafarians. And there's that lovely park where everyone goes to smoke weed. The popo only hunt down dealers and people on shrooms.

Random mooses lying around.

The CN Tower from everywhere you look.

And today I'm going to the opera which is in this building.

Dude.... I LIVE THERE.

There's not much cool about the town I live in, except that we have more pubs per capita than any other town in the county and almost all of them are full of real ale and live music. That's pretty ace. We also have HILLS - real big fucking hills that are actually worth having, none of these shitty molehills they call hills in the south. Pfft. It's really pretty as well, and, most importantly, it's really easy to get out of and go somewhere actually interesting xD

From the window I'm sitting by, all I can see is trees and the ocean. And houses of course.

But here everything is close and central with in walking distance.

Peter Jackson lives here, Lord of the Rings was filmed in places around here.

And it isn't considered strange to see a group of people walking round carrying alcohol.

I forgot to mention Cuba Street. If you know Amanda's New Zealand song, you'll recognize it:

It's like the bohemian centre of Wellington.

Sarah Orne Jewett.

She was one of the best writers in her region, back in the day.

Sean basically just did it all for me. Toronto is a great place. I love being there so much. I'm so glad I'm able to get there so often now too. There's OCAD, there's the Art Gallery of Ontario and my favourite university, Ryerson (which I totally will transfer into my second year, godddddamnit!).

^Haha those seats on the left, on the first level, they look like there's no leg room, so you kinda just sit there and your legs hang over the edge

A few things cool about the area I live in...
-I'm about an hour from New York City by train.
-if you drive long enough in one direction, you'll hit water.
-we have the best bagels, pizza, and chinese food (if you don't count the city).
-accessible theaters every few miles or so.
-take a ferry on the North Shore, you get to Connecticut. take a ferry on the south shore, you'll be on Fire Island.
-it feels like upstate is a completely different world.
-never (other than in the city) will you find a diner on every corner.
-never (other than in the city), will you be able to find someplace that's opened past nine on a Friday night.
-we started Carvel, and the original Nathan's isn't too far.
-we have the Amityville Horror House.
-we have mentions in a song by Billy Joel.
-we have some kick ass beaches.

Oh, the joys of Long Island. :D

Long Island is my second home!

I used to attend college in Greenvale/Brookville, and most of my relatives are in Lindenhurst. :)

I'll post about where I'm actually living right now and then some other time I'll post about where I live when I'm not at school.

Quote from: Wikipedia
In the early 20th century, Bronzeville was known as the "Black Metropolis," one of the nation's most significant landmarks of African-American urban history. Between 1910 and 1920, during the peak of the "Great Migration," the population of the area increased dramatically when thousands of African-Americans fled the oppression of the south and emigrated to Chicago in search of industrial jobs. Many famous people were associated with the development of the area including: Andrew "Rube" Foster, founder of the Negro National Baseball League; Ida B. Wells, a civil rights activist, journalist and organizer of the NAACP; Bessie Coleman, the first African-American woman pilot; Gwendolyn Brooks, famous author and first African-American recipient of the Pulitzer Prize, actress Marla Gibbs, the legendary singers, Sam Cooke and Lou Rawls, and Louis Armstrong, the legendary trumpet player and bandleader who performed at many of the area's night clubs

Also I'm just a few minutes away from downtown Chicago, which has too many cool things for me to list.
