^I truly love Vienna. It is really beautiful and people are nice and shopping there is sooo much better than here.

Yay:) Aren't you from Czech Republic or am i confusing you?
I've only been shopping in Prague so far, but i found it way more interesting than at home! And cheaper!! But of course, if people said unpleasant things, i wouldn't be able to understand :-D

^Yes, I'm from Prague. :)
That's nice you found shopping in Prague more intesting and cheaper but I have the same feeling about shopping in Vienna! :D I still have some clothes I bought during my last visit and it's nice to say "I bought it in Vienna." :) Plus my favorite movie is Before Sunrise, so more points for Vienna!

Guh. I really love gold country. My grandma lives in foothills of the Sierra Nevada and it's amazing.

Fun fact about where I live: we have the world's oldest lightbulb.

Oh, the one in the fire station? I've seen it through its webcam a few days ago, it's amazing how it has kept burning for more than a century.

Burn on you crazy light bulb  :D
Made back before they figured out that if the first bulb you bought never burns out,
you'll never need to buy a replacement...

holy moly thats awesome!!

talk about lacking in-built obsolescence...

oooooooooooooh i've seen this lightbulb in a documentary about the ineffectiveness of the new "energy saving" bulbs we're forced to use in the EU now... absolutely amazing. if i ever get to go to the US, is it possible to visit this place and stare at the light bulb like a fool?

Interesting(ish) things about my town (and actually I live in a teeny-tiny town off of this one):

-There is a candy company & a chicken factory -It smells like sugar or gross depending on which way the wind is blowing
-It is a bout 45 minutes from a big ass lake & there are pine trees everywhere (no joke its called the "Pineywoods")
-We were in the area of the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster

edit: and a player from the Cowboys is from here but he isn't really anything to brag about soo...

I live in southern California; in a place I call Anhourfromcool because it takes about an hour to get to LA and about an hour to get to nice beaches ect. ect. ect.

I work in a fair sized city that has a really old but fancy hotel, I don't work there though...

We have some bus stops painted with art. Some of them are great,  most trivial, others reproduce or emulate famous painters/illustrators art. It is been awhile since I first thought about photographing them, but I dont have the means - taking the bus to take a photo of every cool stop is not doable (too expensive). I dont have a driver license, meaning I cannot drive my father's car to these cool stops. Also, I cant ride a bike, and my bicycle is wrecked since 2003.

I live in the city where the famous philosopher Rumi lived and died.

We have a huge museum consisting of his schools, and the mousoleums of him & his followers.

There also are various historical buildings, like an observatory school, and none of them were built later than 1500 A.D.

facebook is like the worst book I've ever read. the characters do not evolve one bit and the plot is going nowhere.

He's VERY in these days....   :notworthy:

It kinda bugs me how popular his writings are among my acquaintances who
(loudly) proclaim themselves to be atheist......    :jerk:

There is lots of wrong information going on about Rumi. People consider him as a religious leader or such but in fact what he did was quite out of Islam or any other Abrahamic religions.

Sufism, on the contrary of Abrahamic religions asking you to believe in an invisible god, suggests you to consider everything and everybody as a part of god.

On the other hand, Rumi is known for his humanism and collectivism rather than his religiousness. And there are some proofs about a gay relationship between him and Shams Tabrizi, which again conflicts greatly with Islam.

As a deist, i have great respect to his thoughts, he did a great work fighting all the nonsense conservatism and religious discrimination in center Anatolia saying "Come, come whoever you are. Ours is not a caravan of despair.". In brief, he was in favour of freedom of thought & belief before it was cool.

I'm out in the middle of nowhere. So, it's nice and quiet. Very peaceful.
