Creep even uses the phrase "I'm a weirdo". Wow, what a fucking deep and interesting expression of sadness and alienation, not trite or uninspired at all.
LOL. I'm pretty sure "I'm a creep, I'm a weirdo" is intended in a somewhat ironic sense...I find it amusing, it's reclaiming terms that people sling as insults in a wryly self-deprecating way. I don't think it's attempting to be some overly deep and meaningful expression of sadness. You might want to try investing in a sense of humour perhaps.
Hating colplay is like hating the colour white, seeing nothing wrong with a band like radiohead is like seeing nothing wrong with the colour of poo. I don't know of anyone who given the choice between the two would rather paint their room poo brown.
That's a really bullshit analogy. And I don't "hate" Coldplay, in fact I've even been to one of their concerts. I think they're completely blah, for reasons already stated, and I think it's a sad comment on the state of popular music that they're probably 'the biggest band in the world' right now. And yeah, I never said there was "nothing wrong" with Radiohead. That's a ridiculous thing to say about anything, and I actually concede to many criticisms about even my most favourite bands/musicians. I merely stated that they are far superior to Coldplay, and I've clearly delineated the reasons why I think this and provided examples, and I don't feel I need to re-state myself. And no, I'm not going to do full page analysis of their song lyrics for you, because I frankly don't care enough about this topic to bother. But feel free to keep clinging to your claim that Coldplay are better than Radiohead, which seems to mostly spring from some imagined notion of pretentiousness and hipsterdom you ascribe to Radiohead, regardless of actual musical quality.
And I'm SO tired of people throwing around the words "hipster" and "pretentious", they're such fucking lazy, knee jerk attempts at criticism. Seriously, you talk about "pretentious instrumentation". Maybe you could provide a list of "pretentious" instruments as well, so I know what to steer clear of. Yeah, like all bands should only consist of drums and guitars, and play their songs in 4/4 time signature, so as not to appear "pretentious". And what's most ironic, is that more often than not the people using such terms are actually the ones with pretentious attitudes and high, misguided opinions of themselves.
I'm going to ignore your use of the word "transcendant" to describe a fucking band.
Maybe that was a bit wanky, definitely not as bad as trying to incorporate non-words like 'subferior' into everyday conversation, though.
