Songs I have covered...not all of 'em, just my fave ones to do:

"Stay" - U2
"Love is blindness" - U2
"My Alcoholic Friends" - Dresden Dolls
"only happy when it rains" - Garbage
"Not a second time" - The Beatles
"I'm Only Sleeping" - The Beatles
"I love you" - Sarah McLachlan
"Hold On" - Sarah McLachlan...I've done this one more than any other; I do it in the same key as well.
"Fumbling Towards Ecstasy" - Sarah McLachlan
"Lucky" - radiohead
"Let's Lynch the Landlord" - Dead Kennedys

one of my fave things to do is use a verse/section from a cover song as an intro for one of mine; I got that from U2, who used to do it a lot live. My fave intro bits:

the quiet section from "paranoid android" by Radiohead
the 2nd verse from Sarah McLachlan's "stupid"
the opening stanza from Bruce Springsteen's "Thunder Road", I jump out after "and that's alright with me".

songs that I am going to cover one day, goddamnit:

"Cloudbusting" - Kate Bush
"The Rain Song" - Led Zeppelin
"indifference" - Kristy Thirsk
"Drawn to the Rhythm" - Sarah McLachlan
"acrobat" - U2
"Heroes" - David Bowie; I've done it a shitload of times sitting around at home - just need to break it out at a gig. Same goes for "Eternal Flame" by the Bangles.

plur

...yeah, yeah - lots of Sarah; the center of her range really suits me.

Songs I currently cover:

Excuse Me- Peter Gabriel (I do this one on Ukulele)
Into the Mystic- Van Morrison
Evil- Howlin' Wolf
Ace Of Spades- Motorhead (Yes, on Ukulele!)
The Seeker- The Who
Bike- Pink Floyd (on Ukulele)

Songs I want to do, mostly on the Ukulele:

Jethro Tull- My God
Gigolo Aunt- Syd Barrett
Blood Roses- Tori Amos
Hyperballad and Pagan Poetry- Bjork
I Don't Want to Grow Up and Misery is the River of the World- Tom Waits

I want to cover almost every song on PJ Harvey's "Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea" at some point.
Of course I would love to cover The Dresden Dolls, but I can't seem to pick a tune that fits me.

I plan to start work on an accordion-rock cover of "Solitary Man" by Johnny Cash, one of my favorite songs right now. :coolsmiley:

Oh, I'd cover a Failure song.  I'd cover Pitiful.

But, I'd do it with cello, ftw.

It'd sound great, trust me.

For shame! I forgot to mention Bobby Darin's "Mack the Knife"! I did an amazing a ccapella rendition of it for communications class.

Some others I also forgot;

The Beatles - Yellow Submarine
Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
Chicago - I Move On
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here (my friends sang and played guitar, I joined in on the accordion)
